Get your free reports and read them

In one minute

You can check all three reports for free every week at AnnualCreditReport.com. Read them like a teacher with a red pen: circle anything that is not true.

Use the one official site

AnnualCreditReport.com is the only website authorized to fill orders for the free reports the law gives you. The three bureaus also let you check each report there for free once a week. You can call 1-877-322-8228 too. Reports ordered by phone come by mail within 15 days.

Be careful with look-alike sites. Some use misspelled names to catch a typing mistake. The real site and the bureaus will not email you asking for your Social Security number or account information.

What is inside a report

  • Your information: names, current and past addresses, birth date, Social Security number and phone numbers.
  • Accounts: account types, limits, balances, payment history, dates and creditor names.
  • Collections: missed payments and debts sent to collectors.
  • Public records and inquiries: bankruptcies, and a list of companies that have looked at your report.

What to circle

  • A wrong name, phone number or address
  • An account that belongs to another person with the same or a similar name
  • An account from identity theft
  • A closed account reported as open
  • An account wrongly reported as late
  • A wrong date of last payment, date opened or date of first delinquency
  • The same debt listed more than once, possibly with different names
  • A wrong balance or a wrong credit limit

Correct negative information is not an error. It can generally stay on your report for seven years.

Pro tip

Creditors are not required to report to every credit bureau, so one report can show things another does not. Look at all three.

Try it today

Go to AnnualCreditReport.com, download your three reports and circle anything that looks wrong. Keep them somewhere safe.

  • Colecciones: pagos no hechos y deudas enviadas a cobradores.
